Gibson out to impress at Wolves

Sat 20 Oct, 04:00 PM

Manchester United loanee Darron Gibson hailed the promotion credentials of Wolves and admits he could yet extend his current three-month stay. The 20-year-old joined Wolves after United were dumped out of the Carling Cup by Coventry but the midfielder has no concerns about being loaned out at Molineux and is hoping to follow the footprints of the likes of David Beckham in order to fulfil his dream.

Gibson told the official club website: "There is no doubt in my mind that we could get promoted. Wolves are one of the better teams in the Championship and if they play to their potential they'll go up.

"The gaffer (Sir Alex Ferguson) obviously knows what he's doing and he knows where to send his players. The likes of David Beckham went Preston, did well and got his place in the Manchester United team and that is what I'm aspiring to.

"If I do well here up to Christmas - and it could be all season - then I can go back and really challenge for a place."
