Micah Richards has rubbished suggestions that he is seeking a way out of Manchester City.
The defender burst on to the scene in the 2005-2006 season and was tipped for stardom when breaking into the England squad in November 2006.
However, his career has levelled off in recent seasons and he has been dislodged as City's right back by Pablo Zabaleta.
Zabaleta was sent off against Wigan at the weekend, meaning Richards is likely to take over, and he is determined to prove to manager Mark Hughes that he is worthy of his place in the side.
"For them to suggest that I want to leave City is absolutely ridiculous," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"I have three-and-a-half years left on my contract. When you look at the way this club is going, who in their right mind would want to leave?
"I am 21 and people seem to forget that I am still learning my trade. I am just enjoying the ride.
"There is perhaps the impression out there that I am bit older than I am but I know I am not the finished product."

He's a great athlete with all the attributes but a terrible footballer - gone downhill since he was put on big money. He could be turned into a great defender, though, if he was willing to listen and learn, which he doesn't seem to be judging by his on field spats with more experienced team mates. Chip. Shoulder.
Sadly, he'll still be talking like this at 23/24. Needs to move on - he's had many chances and can't cut it.
he smells like cheese, ive met him
He needs to stay out of nightclubs and concentrate on his football. His decline can be traced just as simply to the time he got into the media spotlight and the England set up. It went to his head and it has shown on the pitch ever since. He remains very promising as an attacking right back. He's strong and fast but needs to work on his concentration - ball watching is a big problem - and his crossing which is shocking at times considering the positions he gets into.
As a city season ticket holder, i have watched Micah Richards decline from a promising player to one that is seriously lacking in confidence and technique. Tactics will not always suit certain players, but Micah's problem is his ball watching and lack of awareness and unless he sorts this out himself, then it may be best for him to move on. People tend to forget he had Richard Dunne next to him and his great unseen abilty he had to support and secure what was and still is an uncertain defence. Dunne covered a lot for Richards when he got out of position and now he has gone, so has Richards safety net. He will either have to step up to the plate or ship out, as we cannot afford to keep players of his mentality.
You better come home to Ashburton Grove and become a great player under Le Prof.
"but I know I am not the finished product."
Hughes and co are telling Richards he is not good enough and still must improve.
They are destroying his confidence.
They are systematically driving out the unwanted players no matter how good they are. The dirty rags have infiltrated man city and need to be stopped.
Sack the reds
He was an excellent player 1 1/2 years ago. Formidable. Unstoppable and unbeatable
What has happened inbetween?
Sven was told he was being sacked during November
Hughes came in the summer
Richards has lost his confidence and Hughes +co have done nothing to improve him.
The team formation and tactics suck. Even zAbaleta struggles at right back and Bridge is stretched,
The midfield is too central
4-2-4 is not a defenders happiest formation.
He'll be a very good player soon. Man City might have to let him go.

Richards would leave in order to secure the england right back position.
Do you not read?

you dont know what you are talking about.
Richards is doing as he is told as is Bridge. The Formation and Tactics are to blame not the player
Why would he want to leave city he is getting bucket loads of cash for doing nothing. He is right he is still learning his trade ive seen him doing a plumming course on a wednesday nights at Manchester community college.
the sooner we sell Richards the better, he is a liability we dont need, football commentators keep saying he is a terrific athlete, we are playing football not doing the long jump. Look at the goals we have conceded when he has been playing they all came from his side of the pitch. He has no ball control just look at him when he is running with the ball, its not at his feet under control. if we want to win things it will have to be without him and his big chip on his shoulders.
I think Micah could be the england right back for the next ten years but ....
not with Hughes and co. coaching him.
Micah, run.. run to a club with a decent set up for you.
2years ago Micah was unbuyable... now, Hughes would take £8 mil
Hughes has systematically reduced Micahs confidence and ruined the last years development.
I would get rid of Hughes before Micah
amos !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MR is a class act and will show his worth.
