Allardyce primed for Di Santo exit

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce is resigned to returning Franco di Santo to Chelsea in January when his loan move ends.

Allardyce believes their league rivals will require the Argentinian's services with a number of players away on African Nations Cup duty. Chelsea are not in a position to go into the market as things stand either because of FIFA's transfer ban, which they intend to appeal against.

On the possibility of Di Santo staying, Allardyce said: "I do not think that there is any real chance of that."

He added: "There is a transfer ban on Chelsea and with the African Nations coming up they will probably need him.

"Di Santo was terrific - he is a young man learning his trade. He has finally got a chance to start some games and he has grasped it.

Di Santo, 20, confirmed his progress with his first goal for Blackburn in the 3-2 derby victory against Burnley at Ewood Park.

David Dunn and Pascal Chimbonda were also on target while Robbie Blake and substitute Chris Eagles replied for the visitors.

Allardyce continued: "What pleased me was the lay-off for Dunny's goal. He will take confidence as well from his first goal in the Premier League. If he can continue to play like this it will be good for us and Chelsea."

Burnley manager Owen Coyle complained to referee Chris Foy after the game about Di Santo's goal as he felt goalkeeper Brian Jensen had been obstructed.

Coyle said: "I was convinced that Di Santo had moved into Stephen Jordan and did enough to put Brian off. That was my initial thought and you won't convince me otherwise."

  1. owen coyle GET SOME FKKK'NG GLASSES you @#$%!! there was no obstruction no push either which is what you first used as an excuse for the second blackburn goal, replay's
show there was no contact with that clown of a keeper, he STUMBLED,PANICKED,he had no self composure basically HE BOTTLED IT!!
& this result will maybe make you think twice before you go about telling people that you are going to win this & that?
''This will be the right place to get our first away win''
''Where better to get our first away win than at our closest rivals''
    DREAM ON DONKEY!!!
& now you're all spouting about ''Getting revenge in the return fixture''
''We will win when they come to our place'' HAHAHA HA HAHAHA HA
Unlike YOU DREAMERS, i think maybe you could beat us in ONE match or if your lucky get a draw? Just because you're the sh- it's of Lancashire doesn't mean you might not one day beat us? & if you's did? we will take it like any other match were we lose, that's life & these things happen!
I did once see SCUMLEY win at ewood i also once saw SCUMLEY win against us at TURDMOOR
so i know it's possible & if it happens again, that's tuff sh -it for us!!

Totally pointless discussing a player who is leaving,we need fulltime, signed up, forwards who are showing promise.

  3. I want him to stay on. sturridge and anelka are plenty strikers while drogba and kalou are away . we can go to 1 up top or use cole as a 2nd striker if we stick to a diamond.

we should go back to a 4-3-3 during the nations cup. lampard will get more goals and a front 3 of zhirkov, anelka and cole is good enough.

But Chelski are not allowed to take their players back until the end of the loan contract, that was part of the judgement. Anyone know how long the player signed for? I thought it was season long, but not sure.

  6. As a Rovers fan it would be nice to see him stay the full season, not just from a selfish point of view, but for Di Santo himself. Given the chance for first team starts is obviously paying dividends for him and can only be good for Chelsea in the long term.

He had a great game for us on Sunday, and hopefully will continue to do so during his spell with us.

  7. I am Chelsea supporter, and I feel Di Santo will do better with Blackburn for this season....Coz at Blackburn, you have a manager who will give you first team action almost every week...and he wont be under any pressure to score goals every week....
But once he is back at Chelsea, he will be required to score in order to show that he deserves a place in the first team....

So on a personal level, its good if he stays with Blackburn....
