Beattie strike enough for Swans

Tue, 20 Oct 23:02:23 2009

Craig Beattie came back to haunt Coca-Cola Championship leaders West Brom by grabbing the only goal of a low-key encounter to secure a shock 1-0 victory for Swansea.

The Glasgow-born striker only managed four league goals during two injury-hit years at Albion, two of which came back in August before becoming the Swans' record signing later that month.

But with his second goal in as many games, he sent the Baggies to their third defeat in five games, although they remain top of the table courtesy of Newcastle's defeat at Scunthorpe.

Beattie lit up a poor clash with the only goal in the 50th minute, latching onto Mark Gower's pass to strike a low effort past Scott Carson and extend Swansea's unbeaten run to seven matches.

  1. At least this match has proven a few things: -

1: The reason we brought Sott Carson, Simpy Outstanding, his save on 85 minutes was brilliant
2: What a find Jara looks! Great on the ball, hard in the tackle, also is giving more and more confidence to Zuiverloon resulting in him playing better.
3: Chris Wood is simply not ready yet
4: Luke Moore is simply not good enough (Or should that be bothered enough?)
5: The reason Tex gets left out so often, his final ball was shocking
6: The reason Thomas has had so many clubs, Where did saturdays Thomas go?
7: Hopefully we have kept our receipt regarding Mattox
8: Someone Tell Graham Dorrans that just cause the Sun says your good doesn't mean you are. Pull your socks up.
9: That Koren has NO reason to complain, simply awful 45 minutes
10: That Cox deserves a chance.
