Lincoln are bracing themselves for a fine from the Football Association after six of their players received yellow cards during the defeat at Northampton.
Under disciplinary rules, teams that accumulate six or more bookings in a single game are hit with a mandatory £1,000 fine.
City have already been fined that amount by the FA this season after six of their players were booked in the 1-0 defeat at Accrington in August.
Clubs who repeat the offence in the same season can expect a tougher penalty second time round and there is no right of appeal.
"I understand the fine can be doubled," said vice-chairman Bob Dorrian, who claimed the number of bookings picked up by his side against Northampton was disproportionate. "Six players were booked on Saturday but I think you could only argue three were right decisions. Quite how six of our players were booked and none of theirs were, I don't understand.
"We are expecting to be fined. We can't appeal against it but we will be making a representation to the FA because it is not like we are a dirty side."
