Rangers romp to stunning win

Tue, 20 Oct 22:57:53 2009

QPR continued their impressive surge up the Coca-Cola Championship as Reading's fans turned on manager Brendan Rodgers following a 4-1 defeat.

Akos Buzsaky, Jay Simpson, Rowan Vine and Patrick Agyemang were on target as Rangers shrugged off the early dismissal of Ben Watson to make it three home wins on the trot. Reading were also reduced to 10 men when Ivar Ingimarsson was sent off moments into the second half, but by then Rangers were 2-0 up and cruising.

The game exploded into life on the half-hour when Watson, already on a yellow card after a clumsy foul on Shane Long, was sent off by referee Andy Hall for taking a free-kick too quickly. But the official appeared to have done Rangers a favour after the on-loan Wigan midfielder had trudged off, as Buzsaky stepped up to take the same free-kick and hit a superb curler past Adam Federici and into the corner.

The 10 men doubled their lead eight minutes later when Wayne Routledge floated in a deep cross which fooled Federici and allowed Simpson to volley into the net at the far post.

Ingimarsson then received a second booking for scything down Simpson, before Vine registered his first goal of the season with a cool near-post finish.

Fellow substitute Agyemang then raced onto Gavin Mahon's pass and rounded Federici to break his duck this campaign, before Howard finally gave the away fans something to shout about with a consolation goal.

  5. I WAS THERE - WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! The most gutless and pathetic performance I have seen from a Reading team in 10 years. We were pathetic and it pains me to admit it. QPR could have 10 last night!! ROGERS OUT ROGER OUT - MADJESKI PLEASE PUT AN END TO OUR MISERY AND GET RID OF HIM. He wants formations and a style of play to emulate Chelsea but there are a few issues. namely we dont have players like JOHN TERRY, FRANK LAMPARD AND DROGBA.
