A brief look at how those Premier League players not involved for the home nations or Ireland fared on a busy night of international football.

2008 Netherlands Robin van Persie - 0

Chelsea's Nicolas Anelka, Manchester United defender Patrice Evra and Arsenal duo Samir Nasri and William Gallas all saw action for France against Uruguay, but none could inspire Les Bleus to victory in a goalless draw.

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie scored twice and Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt once in Holland's 3-1 victory over Sweden while Kuyt's club-mate Fernando Torres was also on target in Spain's 3-0 win over Chile.

Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli hit a hat-trick in Turkey's 4-2 victory in Austria and Sunderland duo Kenwyne Jones and Dwight Yorke were on target for Trinidad and Tobago in a 3-0 win over Cuba.

But it was a night to forget for Carlos Vela, the Arsenal youngster receiving his marching orders - a straight red for kicking an opponent - as Mexico lost 1-0 to Honduras.

Manchester City aces Robinho and Elano were both in action for Brazil in their 6-2 romp over Portugal, the latter finding the back of the net for his side's fifth.

QPR's latest signing Heidar Helguson scored the only goal of the game as Iceland beat Malta 1-0 and West Brom midfielder Robert Koren Slovenia's first in a 4-3 defeat to Bosnia Herzegovina.
