Pearson confident of Oakley cover

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson believes he has enough leadership in the side to cover the absence of suspended skipper Matt Oakley.

The midfielder will miss the Foxes clash with Plymouth through a one-match ban enforced by five yellow cards, but Pearson is confident he will not be missed too much.

"Matt Oakley is our captain but we will deal with his absence and it will give someone else a good opportunity," he told the club's official site.

"He has been a very consistent performer for us last season and so far this season. It is a miss we will have to deal with and I have every confidence that whatever side we pick will be the right side to win the game.

"We have got a few captains in the squad, people like Wayne Brown and Jack Hobbs. I think Jack Hobbs is a potential captain for the future.

"I think it is important to have strong characters around the place. I am not concerned that just because Matt is missing we won't have leadership out there."

  1. Nigel Pearson is a rare bread of manager who takes draw backs on the chin, if its a defeat, a decision that goes against the team , or if its a players unavailability, his attitude is that we will get on with it. regards defeats, he is man enough to accept and acknowledge if a team has played better and deserved to win against his team. An example some more higher profile managers with knighthoods to their names should take note of. Well done Nigel for being a person of integrity and a shining light in a sport that seems to reach lower depths almost on a daily basis.
