With the launch of the 2008 World Rally Championship only a few weeks away, François Duval has officially announced his participation in the opening round to be held in Monte Carlo from 25 to 27 January.

The Belgian driver will be at the controls of a Ford Focus RS WRC 07 prepared by the Stobart M-Sport Ford team. For Duval, it seems like Christmas has come early.

"It's like a gift coming out of nowhere, which is a bit normal at this time of year," joked Duval, before gratefully adding: "I owe this gift in great part to Steven Vergalle, who personally chose to sponsor me."

"My co-driver will be a compatriot, Eddy Chevaillier," Duval confirmed. "I'm very happy for that as Eddy holds a great deal of experience regarding World Rally Championship events. We will form a 100% Belgian crew!"

"I now impatiently await the first tests. It will be a whole new rally for me since last year I wasn't at Monte Carlo," explained the Belgian, who is looking at a one-race deal for the time being.

"I hope this partnership will continue, but for that, I have to sign a good result at the Monte Carlo rally," Duval enthusiastically declared. "It might be the occasion for me to relaunch my career at the highest level!"
