Kevin Horlock hopes to edge closer to a return to first-team action this week when he turns out for Scunthorpe's reserves. The 35-year-old midfielder, who joined the Iron earlier in the month following his mutual release from Doncaster, will build up his match fitness against Lincoln.
Horlock played only two games during the 2006/7 season due to a knee ligament injury and has yet to play this time around after dislocating his shoulder in the summer.
The former Northern Ireland international, who counts Manchester City, West Ham and Ipswich among his former clubs, came through a behind-closed-doors practice match last week.
