Hughes set to face Gillingham

Mon 21 Jan, 07:30 PM

Oldham striker Lee Hughes will lead the line at Priestfield against Gillingham before his suspension comes into force at the weekend.Hughes, who has scored eight goals in his last 12 appearances, was booked against Yeovil on Saturday following an off-the-ball altercation with Glovers defender Nathan Jones.

The 31-year-old has earned himself a one-match ban and will miss the eagerly-awaited FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Huddersfield.

Latics boss John Sheridan said: "He was very silly to do what he did and it has cost us a player - it was stupid of him."

The trip to Priestfield could bring a recall for full-back Neal Eardley, who again had to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench against Yeovil.

But defender John Thompson (knee ligaments) striker Andy Liddell (Achilles) and skipper Sean Gregan (Achilles problem) remain sidelined.
