McCunnie could face Shrimpers

Mon 21 Jan, 03:00 PM

Hartlepool defender Jamie McCunnie could come into contention for the visit of Southend but midfielder Andy Monkhouse is likely to be missing.McCunnie has returned to training following a knee problem and should be available as the Pools look to bounce back from Friday's 2-0 defeat to Cheltenham.

However, Tuesday's Victoria Park clash comes too soon for Monkhouse who is still struggling with his knee injury.

McCunnie could come straight into the Pools' defence as boss Danny Wilson will no longer be able to call upon the services of Eddie Nolan after the 19-year-old returned to Blackburn following a two-month loan stay.

Hartlepool will be hoping to pick up a first win in seven in order to halt their decline towards the League One relegation zone.
