Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson is hoping Chris Westwood's return to fitness may save him from moving into the transfer market.Ferguson has admitted holding talks with a central defender from a Championship club but with Westwood making a sooner-than-expected return to training after his knee injury may cool his interest.

He said: "We did have preliminary talks about one player in particular, but there are complications and I certainly don't expect anything to happen this week.

"The player concerned is a defender, but I'm hoping to get a good week's training into Chris Westwood.

"Saturday will probably come to soon for him, but if he comes through unscathed he may have a chance for the Rotherham match."
