AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti believes his side will be stronger and more aggressive for the return Champions League clash against Arsenal. The European champions held the Premier League leaders to a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening, and Ancelotti believes his injury-depleted side performed well in the circumstances.
"Arsenal are a great team in a better condition than us, they put us in difficulty but we held up well defensively," the 48-year-old coach told Milan's website after the game.
"I am half-satisfied. We could have done better in attack but they marked [Andrea] Pirlo for 90 minutes, which prevented us from being dangerous up front.
"But I know we will see a different Milan in the return match, in a better condition.
"We'll have players back who have recovered from injury."
Ancelotti said the knocks that saw Alexandre Pato and Alessandro Nesta substituted were not serious, and expects both to be fit for their Serie A game against Palermo this weekend.
Midfielder Kaka appealed to the Milan tifosi to back his side to victory in the second leg at the San Siro.
"In two weeks we will need our supporters, 80,000 people who will lead us to overcome Arsenal. It will not be an easy game," the Brazilian told La Gazetta dello Sport.
"We wanted to win and perhaps we could have if we were more aggressive, but the team was tired because we have played a lot and given how things went the draw was not so bad."
Paolo Maldini, after his 1,001st professional appearance, added: "We played a good match. At these levels you must have talent, skill and strength to compete with those who dominate the Premier League.
"We could have tried to attack more because they played very high up the pitch, but now it's done we must think of the return leg."
