Coleman asks Cov fans for 'time'

Coventry manager Chris Coleman has pleaded for patience from City supporters and warned them not to expect an immediate reversal of fortunes. The former Fulham and Real Sociedad boss was appointed as Iain Dowie's successor on Tuesday, taking charge of a team precariously perched above the Championship relegation zone after a desperate run of seven defeats in their last 10 league matches.

Ahead of the visit of derby rivals and fellow strugglers Leicester, Coleman said: "We have a lot to prove after losing 5-0 to West Bromwich Albion last week, and obviously we need to improve on that.

"But it may take time. I am not coming in and saying I have got a magic formula and we are going to win the next five games because I am great at what I do. What I am saying is that we have got a plan in place and it might require a little patience.

"We need to show some togetherness and try to get some important points on the board. I hope it is a good crowd on Saturday and that they are behind us."

Coleman admitted he will not be making wholesale changes to his inherited squad.

"We have lost a lot of matches recently and the easiest thing would be to say we have got to spend big and change this and that, but this is a fresh start for everyone," he added.

"Teams go on bad runs and that doesn't mean they are bad players. I am going to take a good look at the players we have got.

"I won't be going in to the chairman and saying I want £6million for this striker and £5million for that player.

"There are also a few players coming out of contract, so there is a lot of work to be done."
