Stoke are set to sign a big-name striker on loan from a top flight side in their bid to win the Championship.

FOOTBALL 2007 Stoke City Tony Pulis - 0

The Potters sit on top of the table following an impressive run of just one defeat in 17 league games, but Tony Pulis is refusing to rest on his laurels.

The City boss has outlined his intention to sign "another impact player who can change a game" and he is now poised to boost his attacking options before the weekend clash with Ipswich.

Pulis has held his nerve until now as players signed before February 22nd would not be eligible to play in the play-off final, due to the three month rule on loans after the end of the first transfer window.

However the Welshman is believed to have already lined up a signing and a deal is likely to be completed on Friday.

Scott Sinclair is among the names to have been tentatively linked with a move to the Britannia Stadium but Pulis has so far kept his cards close to his chest.

However, it is believed the new arrival will be a big-name forward from the Premier League.
