Euro 2012 - Injury sidelines Terry for two months

Tue, 21 Feb 15:51:00 2012

Former England captain John Terry will miss his country's friendly against Netherlands as he is out for up to two months with a knee injury.

Terry's right knee has been troubling him ever since he collided with a goalpost in last month's FA Cup clash with Portsmouth, and he is now due to undergo what is understood to be a small procedure to correct the problem.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas had been hoping the 31-year-old would recover in time for Tuesday night's Champions League clash at Napoli. The England centre-back took part in training on Monday, but woke up in considerable pain at Chelsea's team hotel on Tuesday morning.

It is now believed Terry will be sidelined for as much as two months, meaning he will miss a succession of games for Chelsea as they aim to secure a top-four place in the league and prolong their Champions League campaign.

Terry will also be sidelined for England's friendly against Netherlands at Wembley on February 29, sparing the national side's management a decision over his involvement in the tie.

Stuart Pearce has been tasked with picking the England squad after Fabio Capello's resignation earlier this month.

Capello quit his job with the Football Association after clashing with the governing body over its decision to strip Terry of the captaincy.

The FA took the decision to do so after the defender's court date for alleged racist abuse of QPR defender Anton Ferdinand was pushed back until after the conclusion of the Euro 2012 finals.

However, the FA did make it clear that Terry was still available for selection.

Just watched the non hand shaking incident between Suarez and Evra again, and what did the commentators not pick up? THE FACT THAT RIO FERDINAND WITHDREW HIS HAND FROM SHAKING SUAREZ's HAND, perhaps he should now be charged with racism towards a South American???

Back on the J.T. wagon again i see lol, the mindless idiots that love to comment on him shagging some guys EX bird, lmao. if they only looked at their own teams players instead of being so one eyed. for man u fans how many of your players have shagged around??? want me to name them,? same for liverpool and man city fans and probably every other football club in Great Britain. get a grip guys and change the @#$% record. and as for the racism charge which should never ever have got to a civil court. Take a look at your own teams first, with Man U being the worst in english football for it, and a certain Anton Ferdinand who cries about it as much as his brother and mr Evra. they sure know how to work the system and race card.
