Shiels highlights importance of United clash

Kilmarnock manager Kenny Shiels believes a win over Dundee United would be more important than their victory over Rangers at the weekend.

The Ayrshire side stunned the Scottish champions with a 1-0 win at Ibrox in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League on Saturday just days after their hosts were forced to call in the administrators.

But, with just a single point keeping Killie ahead of United - and just inside the SPL's top six - Shiels says victory at Tannadice would be more beneficial for his side.

He said: "In the two games prior to the Rangers game, we drew with Dunfermline and Hearts in two games that we did enough to win. We had good energy about us and we are playing well and I feel we have substantiated that now and we are in a position to go to Dundee United with more confidence.

"It's a tough game, we are aware of that, and we'll have to be bang on our game to get something from it.

"It's better for us to take points off Dundee United than to take points off Rangers because Rangers are in a different league to us in terms of being uncatchable. This is a game where it would be fantastic for us to get something from."
