Furious Lee Sinnott described his Port Vale side as "inept" after they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Tranmere Rovers on Thursday night.Vale would have climbed off the bottom with a win at Prenton Park but Chris Greenacre's penalty and Ian Moore's late strike - after Joe Anyon had saved another Greenacre spot-kick - took Rovers into the top six.
And Sinnott was far from happy with his side's efforts as they stayed bottom of the pile.
He said: "The performance was not acceptable and is not what I require. We will keep going but it is very frustrating. We surrendered too meekly in my view. I thought we were inept and that is putting it kindly.
"I have no qualms over either penalty but we should not have put ourselves in that position. Neither side did particularly well in the first half.
"I felt we might have a chance in the second period but it did not materialise for us and it is very frustrating."
