Moore happy with top-six climb

Fri 21 Mar, 10:30 AM

Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore was pleased to put pressure on the teams around them as his side moved into the top six by beating Port Vale 2-0.Chris Greenacre opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Paul Edwards was adjudged to have brought down Jennison Myrie-Williams in the area.

And although Joe Anyon saved another Greenacre penalty after Jason Talbot fouled the same player, Moore's son Ian sealed the win two minutes from time.

But boss Moore admitted: "We did not play particularly well but we were never in any real danger. We turned the screw after half-time. Myrie-Williams came on and did a job for us. He was a real threat.

"Overall we deserved to win the game although Vale did not look a bottom of the table side.

"We were nice and professional and picked them off after they had a good first half when they ran their legs off. It is nice to put the pressure on the other teams in the play-off fight at the start of the Easter Weekend. We can only do our part and win our games but it is not easy."
