Silkmen beaten by Taylor brace

Fri 21 Mar, 10:30 PM

Stockport cruised to their sixth straight victory as they beat struggling Cheshire neighbours Macclesfield 2-0 thanks to Jason Taylor's brace. The home side had the better of an entertaining first half at Edgeley Park in front of a bumper 7,824 crowd and almost went in front after just four minutes when Liam Dickinson shot just wide from 15 yards.

But the hosts went in front after 10 minutes when Gary Dicker saw a shot blocked by Sean Hessey, but the loose ball was rammed home by Taylor.

Dickinson again shot narrowly wide, before Macclesfield hit back when Martin Gritton headed an effort straight at Stockport 'keeper John Ruddy.

Tommy Rowe fired just over for Stockport just before half-time.

The hosts went two up seconds after the restart when Dickinson's cross was spilled by Jonny Brain, and Taylor was on hand to smash home his second of the night.
