Fri 21 Mar, 02:30 PM

Rotherham United have been approached by Irish property developer Anthony McMullen about a takeover of the cash-strapped club. The Millers incurred a 10-point penalty earlier this week when they entered administration for the second time in two years.

The McMullen Group has promised to pay all outstanding wages to staff and players should the bid go through, and even spoke of their desire to build a new ground for the Yorkshire club.

McMullen told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I apologise for the delay, but I give my personal guarantee that it will be paid.

"Easter weekend means that this process may not be completed until next week.

"Rotherham has a great history and I want to continue to honour that. I and my team along with the local council and the current chairman are commited to bringing Rotherham forward."
