Hearts caretaker coach Stevie Frail has stressed Saturday's meeting with Falkirk is a "must-win" match if they are to secure a top-six place. The Bairns hold a three-point advantage - and a superior goal difference - over Frail's side and an away victory would leave the Tynecastle club with little chance of overhauling their rivals with just two matches before the league splits.
However, a win for the Gorgie team would keep matters interesting as both clubs, together with Aberdeen, seek a top-six spot.
After a disappointing season Frail is in no doubt of the importance of the occasion and hopes his team handle the pressure to secure a precious three points.
He said: "It's a must-win game for us. The players are well aware of the importance of it to stay right beside Falkirk.
"Hopefully if we win we're level on points with them going into the last two games.
"We need to treat it like a normal game and not hype it up too much, but it's a massive one for us to try to win.
"They've done very well to be hanging in there, so we know how difficult the whole 90 minutes will be.
"Falkirk play really attractive football and are pleasing on the eye. They've been up and down but are hitting a bit of form at the right time and we need to stop that.
"From where we've come from second-bottom at one stage, we need to make sure we get in the top six."
Frail is not without his selection problems for the tussle, with wingers Andrew Driver and Neil McCann both sidelined probably until the end of the season and Laryea Kingston again set to miss out tomorrow.
The season-long loan deal of Ricardas Beniusis has also been cut short, with the Lithuanian striker returning to FBK Kaunas after just nine appearances since his arrival last summer.
Frail feels for the player but knew his opportunities were going to remain limited.
He added: "He's featured very, very little. He started the Hibs game (a 1-0 home defeat) at the beginning of the season and hasn't started one since.
"He was a nice lad, a good trainer but we couldn't see a regular starting place for him.
"It was unfair on the lad, in such a big game, to put him in. We saw he how suffered from that."
