Whaley: Form counts for nothing

Fri 21 Mar, 06:00 PM

Preston winger Simon Whaley insists form will count for little when Lancashire derby rivals Burnley arrive at Deepdale this weekend.North End have collected 10 points from their last four games to move towards safety and face a Clarets side humiliated 3-1 at home by Wolves in their last outing.

However, with Owen Coyle's men still within reach of the play-offs, Whaley says nothing can be taken for granted in derby games.

"We've got a good run of form going on in the league, but you've got to remember that this is a derby match," said the highly-rated wideman.

"Form goes out of the window in these games, and it becomes a pride thing.

"Still, because we're in this good form the confidence is high amongst the lads, and we've just got to make sure we take it into this game."
