Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has set his sights on a return to the Premier League.

The Marseille forward left Anfield in 2006 to join Marseille on an initial loan deal before agreeing a permanent £6million move one year later.

Cisse even confesses he would be open to rejoining Liverpool, despite previously suggesting he was forced out of Merseyside by manager Rafa Benitez.

"You never know, things happen so fast and football is unpredictable," Cisse told The Sun when asked about a possible return to Liverpool.

"I must confess I miss England because it was really special to play for Liverpool.

"I'm not unhappy with Rafa. I just respect his choice and it was his decision and I have to respect that."

And Cisse, who has made 35 appearances for France, is keen to return to the Premier League in order to prove himself after his time at Liverpool was disrupted by a broken leg.

"Of course I would like to come back to the Premier League. For the moment I play for Marseille and I have to give 100 per cent," Cisse added.

"Unfortunately, I broke my leg when I was there and did not have the chance to prove myself."
