Nigel Adkins believes his players have silenced their critics with their performance in the weekend's win over Cardiff.The Iron were relegated straight back down to League One after last week's defeat at Crystal Palace but turned in a much-improved performance to secure a seventh home win of the season in the 3-2 victory over the FA Cup finalists on Saturday.

Adkins said: "Questions were pointed last week about whether the team were committed, and whether they tried.

"I don't want anyone to ever question my football team by saying they don't try - because they have worked hard all season.

"I'm so proud of what they have achieved this season because for 44 games they've been totally committed to each other and to the football club."
