Carrick happy with development

Mon 21 Apr, 12:30 PM

Michael Carrick is pleased with his progress at Manchester United and is confident that he will continue to improve next term. The midfielder has established himself as a key figure in the United side since joining from Tottenham in the summer of 2006.

He has played regularly despite fierce competition for places and believes there is still more to come from him in the future.

"I'm enjoying my football and I'm very satisfied with the way things are going," he said. "You always want to keep improving and getting better and I feel I've been doing that since I've been at the club so hopefully that will continue."

United are still in the hunt for the Champions League as well as the Premier League and Carrick is in upbeat mood ahead of the semi-final against Barcelona.

United lost to Milan at the same stage last term but Carrick feels there could be an advantage in playing the first leg at Camp Nou.

"Big games are what it's all about at this stage of the season and that's what you want to be involved in," he said.

"We believe we can win. It's not going to be easy and we'll have to play our best in both games but we've got the players and the confidence to do that and I'm sure we'll be good enough.

"We had a good result here (against Milan) but fell away a bit away from home. It's the opposite this year and if we score it will set us up nicely for coming back to Manchester."
