Jobi McAnuff admits Watford 'have shot themselves in the foot' as their pursuit of automatic promotion appears to have fallen short.A 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday left Adrian Boothroyd's side six points short of second-placed Stoke - and McAnuff concedes the play-offs now look their most likely vehicle for promotion.
He said: "Saturday was pretty much up there with the most disappointing days of my career. It was a massive game and a terrible result at the end of it.
"It will be very tough to get into the top two places now. We have shot ourselves in the foot and we need to make sure we get the results now to keep us in the play-offs.
"I thought Palace were very good. They are a compact team with lots of pace on the break. We will probably face them again in the play-offs.
"We will reflect on where this performance went wrong and make sure we get the results we need."
