Preston striker Neil Mellor has set his sights on a promotion push next season after the club secured their Championship status.Saturday's 2-2 draw at Plymouth finally ended the threat of relegation and featured another impressive performance from Mellor.

He scored Preston's first goal and set up Richard Chaplow's late equaliser to continue North End's impressive form in recent weeks.

The former Liverpool striker said: "We knew we could sort it out and we can look forward to next season now when, hopefully, we will be challenging at the other end of the table.

"I'm never going to give up on playing in the Premier League.

"Since January we have been second to only Hull in terms of form."
