Walsall manager Richard Money believes the rigors of the League One season have played their part and finally caught up with his young squad.The Saddlers' hopes of reaching the play-offs were extinguished on Saturday following the 3-1 home defeat to Bournemouth.

Money said: "We have been playing so far above ourselves all season with a group of young players who suddenly look as if they have hit the wall, pure and simple.

"They look mentally and physically gone, and it is going to be a tough job to pick them up for the last two games of the season.

"Some of them have played 20 games this season, but at least they will benefit from that next season."
