Goalkeeper Simon Royce has pledged his future to Gillingham whatever division they are in next season, but admits contract talks have stalled.Royce, who is a free agent in the summer, has been one of boss Mark Stimson's most consistent performers this season and is desperate to remain at Priestfield.
The 35-year-old has verbally agreed a new deal but now wants to put pen to paper.
"The contract has been agreed, I would sign it tomorrow if I could," Royce told Kent News. "It was agreed five or six weeks ago but the chairman has not been around.
"It's another year so on my part I'm quite willing, even if we do get relegated I want to stay and look forward to a promotion.
"The manager has said 'don't panic it's all in hand' but when nothing is signed a verbal agreement isn't worth anything these days."
