FOOTBALL PSV Eindhoven - 0

NETHERLANDS

PSV won their fourth consecutive Eredivisie title after defeating Vitesse Arnhem 1-0 thanks to a second half strike from Serbia striker Danko Lazovic.

PSV finished three points ahead of Ajax, 5-1 winners against Heracles Almelo, who will now play off with NAC Breda, Twente Enschede and Heerenveen for a place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.

Feyenoord finished sixth on goal difference behind Heerenveen, despite a 3-0 home win over Roda JC Kerkrade, their opponents for next week's Dutch cup final. Excelsior Rotterdam suffered a 5-0 defeat at Heerenveen to suffer automatic relegation.

PORTUGAL

Bottom club Uniao Leiria thrashed Sporting Lisbon 4-1 while champions Porto beat rivals Benfica 2-0 in the Portuguese Premier League.

Sporting's loss meant in-form Vitoria Guimaraes consolidated second spot with three games to go despite their scoreless draw with strugglers Academica.

Vitoria are 20 points behind unreachable Porto on 49 points and on course for automatic Champions League qualification with a three-point cushion over Sporting. Benfica are fourth on 45.

BELGIUM

Standard Liege dethroned Anderlecht 2-0 to claim their first Belgian first division title in 25 years. Two second-half goals from Dieumerci Mbokani at home to last year's champions, combined with a scoreless draw between Club Bruges and Ghent, was enough to secure Liege's ninth league title.

After 31 games, unbeaten Liege top the table on 71 points with three games remaining, ten points ahead of Anderlecht and Bruges, who have shared Belgian soccer's top prize for the past six years.

At the opposite end of the table, FC Brussels were relegated after a 2-0 defeat at home to Excelsior Mouscron. Sint Truiden look favourites to join Brussels in division two next term after a 2-1 defeat at Germinal Beerschot.

With three game to play, Truiden have 23 points with Dender, 2-0 losers at Racing Genk, on 30 points and Mons-Bergen a point further ahead after a scoreless draw at Westerlo.

GREECE

The Greek Super League season ended amid confusion with Olympiacos's title celebrations on ice pending a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling.

The CAS were due to rule on a match played between Olympiacos and Apollon Kalamaria on February 3, which Olympiacos lost 1-0. They were awarded three points by the Greek Football Federation (EPO) because Apollon's Roman Wallner, signed in January, had already played for the Scottish clubs Falkirk and Hamilton.

And they have now made their decision, rejecting Apollon's bid and paving the way for Olympiacos to be crowned champions.

The decision could have big implications for Olympiacos's rivals AEK Athens, as star forward Rivaldo threatened to quit if his side - who lie two points behind in second - were not awarded the title.

"If we (AEK) are not vindicated I will ask the club president (Demis Nikolaidis) to release me from my contract so that I can leave Greece," Rivaldo said after AEK's 2-0 win over Asteras Tripolis.

POLAND

Wisla Krakow won their 11th league title with four games to spare after a Pawel Brozek brace gave them a 2-1 home win over city rivals Cracovia and left them 17 points clear at the top.

The league's top scorer took his tally to 18 goals with a pair of headers to give Wisla their fourth title in six years and stretch their unbeaten run to 26 matches.

Lech Poznan moved up into second on goal difference with a 2-1 home defeat of Groclin Grodzisk, who slipped to fourth behind them and Legia Warsaw.

UKRAINE

Champions Dynamo Kiev strolled to a 3-0 success at second -bottom Naftovyk Okhtyrka to stay two points clear of traditional rivals Shakhtar Donetsk, who also eased to a 4-0 home win against mid-table Metalurg Zaporizhya.

Artem Milevsky scored two second-half goals either side of strike partner Maksim Shatskikh's effort to keep Dynamo, who have played a game more than Shakhtar, in the driving seat.

Brazilians Luiz Adriano, Fernandinho and Jadson as well as Oleksandr Gladkiy scored for Shakhtar to leave them in the hunt for a third league title in four years.

ROMANIA

Title holders Steaua Bucharest stayed on course to retain the silverware after a Mihaita Plesan goal handed them a 1-0 victory at Otelul Galati that kept them two points clear of CFR Cluj with four games left.

Plesan struck in the 78th minute to give the champions their 10th successive league win while Cluj, who were 13 points ahead of Steaua at the turn of the year, cruised to a 3-0 win at Arad.

SERBIA

Front-runners Partizan Belgrade eked out a 1-0 home win over Borac Cacak to stay three points ahead of champions and city rivals Red Star, who kept up the pressure with a 5-1 rout of third-placed Vojvodina Novi Sad.

Senegalese striker Lamine Diarra gave Partizan the win with a clinical finish in the first half while Igor Burzanovic and Nenad Milijas scored two goals each for Red Star.

HUNGARY

MTK Budapest extended their lead at the top to three points with a 3-2 home defeat of Kaposvar as two of the three teams in the chasing pack dropped points.

Ujpest were held to a thrilling 4-4 draw by REAC Budapest while Gyori ETO suffered a 1-0 setback at Fehervar, allowing champions Debrecen to move two places up to second with a 4-1 home win over Nyiregyhaza.

RUSSIA

Surprise leaders Rubin Kazan stretched their perfect start to six matches after a 1-0 home win against Amkar Perm left them in pole position, four points ahead of Dynamo Moscow who were held to a 1-1 draw at struggling FC Moscow.

CSKA Moscow stayed in mid-table after a goalless stalemate with third-placed city rivals Lokomotiv while a 1-1 draw at Saturn Ramenskoye left champions Zenit St. Petersburg in the bottom half of the table.

CZECH REPUBLIC

Headers by Tomas Repka, Daniel Kolar and Jan Holenda gave champions and league leaders Sparta Prague a 3-0 home win over 10-man SIAD Most and sent them three points clear of bitter city foes Slavia, who are away to Teplice later on Monday.

ARGENTINA

River Plate slumped to their first defeat of this year's Clausura championship when they were beaten 2-1 by midtable Rosario Central. Estudiantes took advantage of River's slip to pull level on points at the top of the standings by drawing 1-1 away at Tigre.

On Thursday, Estudiantes were officially awarded the points from last month's match away to Racing Club, which was abandoned in the second half by a crowd riot.

Fourth-placed San Lorenzo's run of six successive wins ended when they lost 2-1 at Argentinos Juniors, Gabriel Perez scoring the winner in the last minute.

BRAZIL

Brazilian champions Sao Paulo were forced to flee their dressing-room at halftime after it filled with an unidentified spray during their match away to Palmeiras on Sunday. A 15-minute blackout at the Parque Antartica stadium also marred the Paulista championship semi-final second leg match, which Palmeiras won 2-0.

Vanderlei Luxemburgo's team will face Ponte Preta in the final of the championship, the biggest of the state competitions which kick off the Brazilian season. Ponte beat Guaratingueta 2-1 on Saturday to complete a 3-1 aggregate win.

Old rivals Atletico Mineiro and Cruzeiro will meet in the Minas Gerais final in Belo Horizonte after completing semi-final wins.

Nine-man Botafogo beat Fluminense 1-0 to win the second stage of the Carioca championship and earn a place against Flamengo in the final.
