Eager Dickson raring to go

Wed 21 May, 03:45 PM

Charlton striker Chris Dickson is on the mend and looking to bounce back stronger than ever following the freak injury which ended his season. The 23-year-old had just returned from a successful loan spell with Gillingham and looked certain to play a big role over the second half of the season at The Valley.

Unfortunately, Dickson slipped in the reception of the team hotel before a home game against Stoke in January and suffered a serious cruciate knee injury.

"We are 75 per cent there with the injury. I'll be back for pre-season and raring to go," he told the Addicks' official website.

"Because of where we ended up in the league, the injury has been very frustrating. I felt that at the time of the injury I was breaking into the first team and that I was going to play a major part in the back end of the season.

"Freak accidents happen, I've just got to bounce back and come back bigger and better but I'll be fit, without a shadow of a doubt, for next season. The knee feels very strong and it's just the final details that need to be looked at. I can't wait to get going again and start banging in the goals."
