Dave Jones believes the foundations are now in place for a promotion push - but he admits next season's Championship could be the toughest yet.The Bluebirds may have lost to Portsmouth in Saturday's FA Cup final but Jones insists the run has raised their profile on the world stage, making his job of attracting players to Ninian Park an easier one.
However, he is expecting the competition to be stiff in the second tier next term, and told the South Wales Echo: "If we don't grow from here, the people running this football club need shooting. We have done remarkably well to reach the FA Cup final and we must use this as a springboard to kick on.
"The next step is to move forward and grow. We've got to the cup final, we're having a new stadium built. We're not just national any more, we're global as a result of being at Wembley.
"Hopefully that will encourage players to join us who otherwise might have been reluctant to. But, first and foremost, we have got to be competitive in our own division. Next season the Championship will be full of teams who have played in the Premiership, including possibly Leeds.
"So it gets harder and harder. What we need to do is compete in our own division and make a real push for the Premiership."
