Karl Oyston believes Blackpool will have to take "one or two chances" in the transfer market this summer to ensure their Championship status. The Seasiders chairman has given his strongest indication yet that boss Simon Grayson will be given extra money to spend on new faces during the close season after releasing 11 players.
A new Sky/BBC TV deal beginning at the start of the 2009/10 season will see a large amount of funds coming into the Championship and Oyston realises the increasing importance of the Tangerines retaining their second-tier status.
Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette: "The TV deal coming in the season after next will make a massive difference.
"It will certainly significantly widen the gap between League One and the Championship - so from that perspective it is probably critically important that we do everything in our power to maintain Championship status this season.
"To do it we maybe do need to be in a position where we take one or two chances."
