Gael Monfils is on the verge of withdrawing from the French Open because of a knee injury.
"If I had to decide today, the answer would be no," the world number 11, who reached the semi-finals at Roland-Garros last year, said.
"I clench my teeth but my knee is still hurting. I'll make my decision at the last minute.
"I have six days left as I have asked to play on Tuesday. I still believe a miracle will happen."
Monfils was speaking after losing 6-4 6-0 to Marcos Baghdatis in an exhibition game at the Guinot Mary Cohr Masters in Paris.
According to French federation doctor Bernard Montalvan, the 22-year-old suffers from an inflammation of the kneecap which could require surgery and a long period of rehabilitation.
Guinot Mary Cohr Masters: Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer play in a French Open warm-up event: From 12.30pm on May 20-22 LIVE on British Eurosport 2 (Sky 412, Virgin Media 525); Also available on your PC via the Eurosport Player - click on the link under the picture to subscribe

IT'S A SHAME FOR GAEL. HE IS SO CLOSE TO THE TOP 10...
WITH SO MANY POINTS TO DEFEND AS LAST YEAR SEMI-FINALIST AT RL HE WILL DROP MANY PLACES IF HE SKIPS THE EVENT. BUT HEALTHY IS FIRST GAEL...
Very tough on Monfils. Unfortunate that injury struck the guy just when he had broken into the top ten. It also coincided with the clay court season and he's proven himself to be a more than useful operator on this surface. Hopefully, he'll make a speedy recovery. Cheers
SQUEE - uncalled for. Try the BNP website - your kind of people shouldn't be posting on a sport blog!
