City snap up Zander

Thu 21 May, 02:39 PM

Manchester City have completed the signing of teenage Schalke full-back Nils Zander.

The German youth international is yet to make his senior debut for the Bundesliga outfit but has shown enough in their junior ranks for City manager Mark Hughes to be convinced of his quality.

And, for all the star names Hughes continues to be linked with, the former Wales chief has made 16-year-old Zander his first capture of the summer.

It is not anticipated Zander will go straight into Hughes' senior squad.

However, with Michael Ball set to leave Eastlands this summer and Javier Garrido not convincing Hughes of his long-term value for the Blues, Zander could easily be called upon to deputise for Wayne Bridge at some stage next term.

  2. The future is now, City have the money, they have capable players but the management team is woeful.

WITH HIDDINK, city would have, would have easily finished 5th in the league -- and definately made the UEFA final. HANDS DOWN.

The only people who wish to keep Hughes are those who dont want to disrupt the TOP4 system of the premiership. Those who wish to continue being LOSERS year after year.

City need to remove the Hughes camp in order to progress with the new billionaire owners.
City need an established winner not a 'might be'.

  4. Stop moaning about Hughes being our manager! Just face the fact that he's gonna be in charge next season. He's been set a modest target which should be reached, considering the resources available. If this goal isn't achieved, then you are quite entitled to expect nothing but the sack for Hughes, which'll be inevitable if this was to happen. One thing I do hope is that all you Hughes-haters don't wish failure next season, for you aren't a true blue if this is the case. Get behind our team or go elsewhere and support someone else!

  5. When are the real dipsticks who claim to support City going to stop talking @#$%,
Stop moaning, the last thing City needs is any change of management,
Have you learnt nothing over the years or maybe you are still wet behind the ears.
Over 40 yrs i have supported City, thats probably before your dad was born.

Hughes has simply lost the plot.

He should be more concerned about Johnson and how much johnson is drinking and how Johnson should get his bottom out of bed to training.

LOOK NO FUTHER SPARKY, YOU HAVE A FUTURE ENGLAND CAPTAIN... but alas Hughes is a dip sh£t

  7. hughes is a prat we have a brilliant acadamy and young williamson he sold to the welsh club wrexham in the blue square and his debut under erickson was brilliant here we go again hughes players doing naff all again.yes i am a city fan but not a great fan of hughes with his pathetic 4-2-3-1 system never alters, what is going to happen to all our young striker talent sold or leave as hughes as proved that he has no faith in them to play a 4-4-2 formation, think about it before jumping on my back.

  9. Sounds like a sensible signing for once, just a bit surprised we don't have someone already playing in that position in our Academy who is likely to make the grade.
