Huddersfield manager Lee Clark is hoping goalkeeper Alex Smithies will only have a minor role to play for the England Under-19s next week.
Smithies, who made 28 first-team appearances for Town this season, is expected meet up with the young England squad on Friday despite only just recovering from a shoulder injury.
Clark told the Examiner: "I would never stop a lad playing for his country, but he's had a lot of first-team football and an injury and, being selfish, I wouldn't be unhappy if Alex's involvement was minimal.
"He'll talk things through with the England coaches when he gets there."
England are scheduled to play Bosnia at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium on May 27, Slovakia at Bradford`s Valley Parade the following Friday and Scotland at Sheffield United`s Bramall Lane on Monday June 1.
