Gudjon Thordarson would like to bring in his own assistant manager at Crewe.
The Icelander was appointed Alex boss at the turn of the year and continued to work alongside the existing staff at Gresty Road.
"It is important now that I have someone I can recognise and I know," Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke.
Thordarson has ruled out bringing in Ross McLaren, who worked with him when he was in charge at Notts County.
Current assistant manager Neil Baker has been at the club for the last 15 years and has been a loyal number two to both Dario Gradi and Steve Holland.
Baker is expected to be asked to undertake another role within the club if the backroom reshuffle goes ahead.
