Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba is leaving Chelsea after playing a leading role in their Champions League triumph, according to a report to be published in French magazine France Football on Tuesday.

Drogba, who scored the winning penalty in the shootout against Bayern Munich on Saturday after cancelling out Thomas Mueller's opener, has reportedly told his team mates "we will not be together next season."

"I am getting ready for a great leap into the unknown," he added without hinting at a possible destination.

Drogba, 34, joined Chelsea from Olympique Marseille in 2004 and has won three Premier League titles with the London club as well as four FA Cups.

  7. Drogba, You made your contributions to Chelsea. FA Cup, champions Cup, all had your golden touch. Walk tall knowing very well that you made Africa proud , mentored many and nobody will erase your magic and and positioning which left opponents gasping! I followed keenly your contributions from the quarter finals Champions through to the finals and i simply classed you as a gifted and level headed player who should be emulated by our upcoming youthful players. You are truly a player who will be missed in the entire continent, but am sure your next destination will even make you happier. Take heart Drogba, and know you truly used your gift and talent to add value to yourself , Country , Africa and Global football in all. Kipchirchir Koech Kericho, Kapkelek, Kenya

  13. He won the cup single handed for Chelsea, for then to turn round and say he has to go is absurd, Giggs is still playing for Utd.. if your good enough... he's been forced out by Amobitch, Torres can't tie his boot laces..well overrated..

  14. One more season please. You are not just a Chelsea icon now. You are not just ranking alongside side Bentley, Chopper Harris, Osgood, Zola, and your current team mates Cech, Terry, Cole and Lampard you still have the magic to make a huge difference. One more season to take us through to another two or three trophies. One more season to pass on your experience to the up and coming future players. One more season to be there when things get hairy. One more season to be a true blue who gives the manager the tactical options. And one more season to punch the air and dance around my home making my grandchild wonder who you are to do that when you scored that header and then that pen against Bayern. Go on Didier. Let us chant Dee Dee DDD Didier! next season.

  18. you have been a great servant to Chelsea..some might hate you but your loved and adored by so many across the globe..U are a hero and a true blue legend..what u have done at Chelsea will never be replicated by anyone else, U came all the way from Africa, but the way you devout your safe to Chelsea fighting and most times putting reputation at stake just to make sure Chelsea progress in all competion..you play with injury even with the long term knee problem that makes the novice always think u'r on the ground on every slightest touch..just to make sure Chelsea win..so many players with injury u had will prefer to be sidelined and be cashing their wages, but you always put Chelsea above anythn else..D.D u are a LEGEND. Words can not discribe the sacrifice u'v done for Chelsea but history will always remember u as one of the greatest Chelsea player if not the greatest..only time will tell. Goodluck to u anywhere u decide to settle, cause it will kill my heart seeing a legend warming the bench for who?/
