Cristiano Ronaldo has claimed he will follow the example of his Portugal manager Luiz Felipe Scolari and seize a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Scolari will take over at Chelsea next month having decided midway through the country's European Championship campaign he wanted to move back into club management.
Ronaldo, who has been the subject of long-standing interest from Real Madrid, said he cannot pass up a "great opportunity".
"It [moving to Real] is a dream, a step forward, you can call it what you want," Ronaldo said.
"For me it is a great opportunity and, as Scolari says, that train passes by only once and we have to take advantage of it.
"That is why he took advantage of his change. Other people have to take advantage of opportunities, too."
Asked whether he was concerned his actions would upset United manager Sir Alex Ferguson the winger added: "It is my opinion. That is why I don't mind if people get upset.
"It is my decision. It is what I want. I don't know what I have to say to him. I have to say what I want and what I think."

theres a lot of bitterness towards ronaldo on these articles and i think its really unfair. united would probably not have done aswell as they have this season were it not for him, i mean, one man doesnt make a team but he is a massive presence for utd. as a club the best any club can achieve is winning the champions league, he's helped them do that and now he should chase his own dreams and if fergie and man u care about ronaldo at all they should support him.
He is A great Player and man u are a good team but playes leave united like beckham and they reck there carere but if he gose good luck 2 him =]...

if cristiano ronaldo heart was in football and money didnt matter he should stay at utd, but since im a liverpool fan, i think all utd players are the same money comes first. its going to be a sad day when players leave a club just to make their millions. cristiano is one of the greatest footballers in the world. fergi should let him sit in the stands for the coming season, and make him realise that ur heart has to be in football.

i am a big ronaldo fan, the guy is technically awesome. i rekon that the spanish game will be too slow for him, no offence fellas. players wont jump in on him so he wont be able to skin people like he does over here.
Man United are also more successful than Real, if Man U were to meet them in the champs league next year i think Real would be embarrased to be fair.
