Championship - Sears joins Palace on loan

Crystal Palace have agreed a deal to sign West Ham striker Freddie Sears on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old made 22 appearances for the Hammers last season, mostly from the bench, but manager Gianfranco Zola wants him to gain more first-team football.

Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough United were also interested in taking Sears to the Championship, but he has stayed in London with a move to Selhurst Park.

  6. Madness, utter madness! We've allowed that moaning­ waste of space Warnock a whole season to ruin Sears. ­ Lets hope Warnock gets the sack before he can do to­ much damage. Or Freddie can look forward to a career­ in the lower divisions kicking lumps out of other teams­ defenders playing the "Warnock Way". Long­ ball all the way, eh Neil. Sorry, Freddie, this is­ going to be a bit of a culture shock. It'll be­ like going back in time.
