Tigers make move for Dortmund star

Mon 21 Jul, 01:15 PM

Hull boss Phil Brown is on the verge of yet another new signing after tabling a bid for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Delron Buckley. The South African international recently spent a two week trial period with the Tigers, impressing enough to tempt Brown into making a formal approach for his services.

Although his German employers are yet to accept, or decline, the offer which has been made, Brown is confident that an agreement can be reached.

"We've got a bid on the table for Delron Buckley with Borussia Dortmund and we're waiting on that one" he told the Hull Daily Mail.

"It hasn't been accepted but it's not a million miles away. Once that's accepted, we'll talk to the player and discuss terms.

"If something better comes along in the next couple of weeks then Delron and Borussia Dortmund might miss out.

"But he's a good lad with quality, pace, a trick and a very good left foot.

"If we want two players for each position then the pressure is on the likes of Bryan Hughes and Peter Halmosi - that's what we're after."

Hull are also set to open discussions with Wigan's Marlon King later this week after having an undisclosed bid for the striker accepted by Latics.

The 28-year-old has flown back to England from Wigan's training camp in Austria and will meet Brown in the next few days to thrash out personal terms.

Should King complete a move to the KC Stadium he will join the growing number of new faces which have arrived at the club ahead of the Tigers' first taste of life in the Premier League.

The new boys will be expected to make an immediate impact if the club are to survive in the top flight next term, but defender Michael Turner feels that the fresh faces have already helped to lift morale in the camp.

"I'm sure the manager is looking to bring even more players in to strengthen the squad and add to what we've already got" he said.

"Hopefully, we'll have a strong squad by the time we start in the Premier League.

"Geovanni is a very clever player. He drops in behind the attack and falls into little pockets where it's hard to mark him.

"He's got a lot of quality in him and hopefully he can find some goals and set some up for us.

"But all the new lads are settling in well. We've got new faces coming in all the time and it's the Premier League experience that we need."

  1. Dortmund! Dortmund! Don`t know about Buckley, but if he is anything like the rest of the team, who should have been sued for "arbeits verweigerung", shirking their jobs, which was to play football, last season , they were very very lucky not to get relegated from the Bundesliga! Prehaps Buckley was so sickend by the players he took a two week trip to see some hardworking footballers, which he certainly would have at Hull City!
