Amir Khan is expected to announce his new trainer this week.
The Commonwealth lightweight champion has been linked with various high-profile coaches since his split from Oliver Harrison, the Salford trainer who guided Khan through his fledgling professional career, in April.
Sports Network matchmaker Dean Powell took charge for the 21-year-old's win over Michael Gomez in Birmingham last month while the Bolton fighter's team worked on finding Harrison's long-term successor.
Khan - who has been regularly linked with Americans Freddie Roach and Buddy McGirt - travelled to the United States last week "talking to prospective trainers", according to promoter Frank Warren's website, frankwarren.tv.
It was also revealed today the 2004 Olympic silver medalist is likely to make the announcement this week, with other names including Roger Mayweather seemingly in the frame.
McGirt, a former trainer of the year, already works with former British light-middleweight title challenger Matthew Macklin and Liverpudlian prospect Paul Smith and has previously trained world champions including Arturo Gatti and Antonio Tarver.
Khan spent time in Las Vegas earlier this year with the now-retired Floyd Mayweather and his trainer/uncle Roger - which he described as "an amazing experience" - while Roach is also regarded as a top trainer having worked with the likes of Oscar De La Hoya, Bernard Hopkins and current pound-for-pound nonpareil Manny Pacquiao.
Khan's next fight - his 19th as a professional - is scheduled to be in Manchester on September 6, with an opponent expected to be announced soon.
