Moyes Targets New Signings

Everton boss David Moyes believes he needs to add up to six new players to his squad before the close of the transfer window.

Moyes has yet to increase his playing ranks over the summer, having seen Lee Carsley leave for Birmingham, and Thomas Gravesen and Manuel Fernandes come to the end of their loan spells.

He has been linked with a bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Moutinho as the Toffees manager looks to step up his transfer plans in the coming weeks.

The Scot is aware his squad is lacking in depth and he expects to be chasing new signings until next month's transfer deadline.

"I think we'll be working right up until the window closes like everyone else," said Moyes in The Guardian.

"We need to bring in probably five or six players and we haven't brought in any yet.

"We need to be quite busy in the coming weeks.

"We're missing bodies and we've got injured players not available. Our numbers are so short and we've got injuries, too."

  1. Relegation? Bit pessimistic isn't it? Especially for a club that is the only one to shake up the established top 4 in the last 5 years. Have a bit of faith in your manager, I'm not an everton fan but I do like the club and I'm a big supporter of the way Moyes goes about his business. I hope you pan Liverpool this season and put them back in their place, there is only one team on Merseyside and they don't wear red

  2. moyes better start doing something about getting players in or relegation awaits.we have not enough players to last the season with fitness,and all the extra matches,im available if he gets desperate

  3. I hope Andy Johnson ends up at Fulham. He deserves to play at a club where he will get first team action. I think he could score 20 goals at Fulham. Perhaps 7 mil and David Healy for Johnson.
