New signing Tony McMahon is relishing the prospect of regular first-team football at Sheffield Wednesday after joining the Owls on loan.The 22-year-old Middlesbrough full-back has failed to nail down a starting spot at the Riverside Stadium, and could not resist the lure of match action with the Owls after joining on an initial one-month loan deal.

He told the club's official website: "I'm excited to be here and I can't wait to get started. I'm here for a month at least, then we'll see what happens after that.

"All I want to do is play football, and hopefully that's what I'll be doing for the next five games at Sheffield Wednesday.

"If I do go back to Boro, hopefully I'll be pushing for a place in the first team, and if I stay here that's great, because I'll be playing football on a regular basis."
