Arsene Wenger is convinced Fabio Capello will "get the job done" and safely guide England to the 2010 World Cup.
The Italian coach used the fifth and final friendly before the qualifying campaign for South Africa to fine tune his tactics ahead of the date with minnows Andorra in Barcelona on September 6 and then the crunch trip to old adversaries Croatia four days later.
However, it was a far from convincing performance by the Three Lions in front of only some 69,000 at Wembley, where a scrambled goal from substitute Joe Cole in stoppage time earned the hosts a 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic.
Wenger, though, remains optimistic former Real Madrid manager Capello can go one better than his predecessor Steve McClaren who oversaw a failed qualification bid for the European Championships.
"There are plenty of explanations why England did not play so well, and I would not judge quickly what happened last night," said Wenger.
"He will get the job done and I ask you to believe that as well.
"I am convinced he has the needed strength.
"No manager in the world has only good games in his career. He will go through bad games.
"The strong managers find why and they then find the solutions, and Capello is a strong one."
Wenger added: "You have to give Capello the time. He can convince this team, don't worry.
"Last night was only a friendly and they are not the same, it was a bit of a no game."
The Arsenal manager was left less than impressed by the timing of a round of what were effectively meaningless friendlies so close after the opening of new club campaign.
He said: "At the start of the season, it is not the best position to have an international friendly between two Champions League [qualifying] games.
"We only had one outfield player at the start of the week - Denilson - the rest were all away.
"Robin van Persie had to play in Moscow, Carlos Vela was with Mexico and I will not see him before tomorrow.
"When you play such intense games as we do, it is certainly not ideal."
