Eurosport - Fri, 21 Aug 17:01:00 2009
Team news ahead of the weekend's SPL action, with Stephen McManus and Barry Robson not yet ready to return to the Celtic line-up.
(Kick-offs 15:00 UK time unless otherwise stated)
SATURDAY
Falkirk v Hibernian (12:30)
Falkirk will make a last-minute decision on the fitness of Thomas Scobbie and Vitor Lima ahead of their Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Hibernian.
Left-back Scobbie (knee) and midfielder Lima (thigh) went off injured during the 4-1 defeat by Rangers.
Striker Mark Stewart (groin) is still missing while Neil McCann`s departure from the club has finally been confirmed.
Hibernian boss John Hughes has no fresh injury concerns for his return to his former club.
Hughes will still be without suspended defender Ian Murray and striker Jonatan Johansson, who was set to return to training on Friday.
Midfielder Merouane Zemmama is back in contention after sitting out last weekend's opening Clydesdale Bank Premier League win of the season.
Motherwell will not risk Paul Slane for the visit of Kilmarnock unless he has fully recovered from a calf problem.
The 17-year-old winger pulled out of the starting line-up at St Johnstone 10 minutes before kick-off and has missed several days of training this week.
Jim Gannon`s only other absentee is Darren Smith, who is expected to be out for several months with a hip problem.
Kilmarnock manager Jim Jefferies has been boosted by the return of Danny Invincibile.
He is in contention for the visit to Fir Park after missing last week's opener against Hamilton.
Jefferies has no fresh injury concerns following the 3-0 win over Accies but will still be without David Fernandez and Mark Burchill.
St Mirren v Dundee United
St Mirren will be without Steven Thomson for their Clydesdale Bank Premier League game against Dundee United.
Thomson is suspended for the visit of the Tannadice side after picking up a red card against Hibernian last week.
Hugh Murray is back in the squad after sitting out the SPL opener with a groin strain, however the match may come too soon for him.
Chris Smith and Mo Camara are still sidelined with knee injuries.
Dundee United have a doubt over Morgaro Gomis after the Senegal midfielder missed three days of training since injuring his groin in Monday's win over Hearts.
Skipper Lee Wilkie and long-term crocks Jon Daly, Francisco Sandaza and Kevin Smith are all ruled out.
Celtic v St Johnstone
McManus (pictured) and Robson are back in full training at Celtic but will not be in contention for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League match against St Johnstone at Parkhead.
Captain McManus has recovered from a knee injury while his Scotland team-mate has overcome a groin complaint.
However, manager Tony Mowbray revealed that neither player is in contention yet for a first-team return.
St Johnstone midfielder Chris Millar has recovered from his calf injury and trained on Thursday with no reaction.
However, Kevin Rutkiewicz (knee), Graeme Smith (thigh), Peter MacDonald (hamstring), Kevin Moon (groin) are still on the sidelines alongside long-term injured Andy Jackson.
Hamilton Academical v Aberdeen
Hamilton welcome back defender Martin Canning from a one-match ban for the Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Aberdeen.
New signings Kyle Wilkie and Marco Paixao - who finally joined twin brother Flavio at the club on Thursday - go straight into the squad.
James McArthur and Mark McLaughlin serve the final instalment of their suspensions while the game comes too soon for Trent McClenahan (hernia). James Gibson (knee) and Alex Neil (hip) are long-term absentees.
Aberdeen defender Zander Diamond is very doubtful after the centre-back suffered a head knock in training and also aggravated an ankle injury during last weekend's 3-1 defeat by Celtic.
Midfielder Gary McDonald is also a doubt after picking up a knock, while Tommy Wright (calf) is still absent.

7. I pretty much agree apart from the 'Follow Follow' bit;-)
I also think even a fully fit Celtic team would have to catch Arsenal on an off day to take them over 2 legs.
Europe is a nice distraction but it's bread and butter league title first and foremost for me this year.
Slightly dissapointed with the Arsenal result but even the most feverant Celtic fan knew their team was up against an english based who's who of european/african football side backed by the multi millionare Aussie and Sky.This game just came to soon for Tony and what he s trying to achieve.A few more game's under his belt and we will reap the rich rewards which lay ahead.Celtic,Tony and all connected will have their day's in Europe playing football the Celtic way and winning. Point 3! Fu cking Ape! No worder Murray cant punt Rangers, with knobs like you!!!
Point 4! The arsenal game was the first time any English team has won at Celtic Park in 25 years!!!! The only difference between the EPL and SPL is SKY TV money! PROVE ME WRONG!!! Oh and who was the last English manager to win the EPL? How many Englishmen played for Arsenal against Celtic? Hmmmm
scots footie is pish just now in general. Celtic and Rangers both stuffed by Arsenal who aren't the best in England. Seems there's no willpower or interest it sorting it all the f@#$k out.
