Dani Pedrosa will remain with Repsol Honda for another two seasons after signing a new deal with the team.
The 21-year-old Spaniard lies third in the Moto GP points after winning this year's German Grand Prix.
But he wants more success with the squad, where he will remain as team-mate to out-going world champion Nicky Hayden.
"I am very happy to have signed with Honda for another two years," said Pedrosa. "Both Honda and I considered it was good to continue our relationship after so manu successful years together.
"Although this year things have not turned out to be quite as we wanted, Honda and I have the spirit and determination to get through this and challenge for the world title next year."
Pedrosa has ridden Hondas throughout his Grand Prix career and took the 125cc world title in 2003 and the 250cc crown in 2004 and 2005 for the Japanese manufacturer.
He graduated to the Moto GP class last year and has so far won three Grands Prix.
