GROUP B

Wolfsburg (face Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 30)

Schalke 1-2 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg have made an indifferent start to the Bundesliga season but raised hope that they can have a productive autumn with a win over Schalke.

Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko proved to be the star turn for Wolfsburg, heading his side ahead on 55 minutes and he then grabbed the winner in the 81st minute after Benedikt Hoewedes had levelled the scores.

The win snaps a run of three consecutive defeats for Wolfsburg who lie ninth in the league.

Besiktas 0-1 Kayserispor

CSKA Moscow 3-0 Dynamo Moscow

GROUP D

APOEL Nicosia (face Chelsea at the GSP Stadium on September 30)

Enosis Paralimni 1-1 APOEL Nicosia

The Cypriot champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Enosis Paralimni, having passed up a host of chances.

APOEL fell behind in the first half and laid siege to the home goal in the second half but it was not until the 90th minute that they found a leveller - Chrysis Michael slotting home a penalty.

It has been a poor start to the season for APOEL as they are sat in 10th place and still seeking their first win of the term.

Braga 1-0 Porto

Barcelona 5-2 Atletico Madrid

GROUP E

Fiorentina (face Liverpool at the Artemio Franchi on September 29)

Roma 3-1 Fiorentina

The Viola had a weekend to forget as they were thrashed 3-1 by Roma in the Eternal City. Francesco Totti netted two and created another for Roma, with Fiorentina's only crumb of comfort being a late strike from Alberto Gilardino.

It was Fiorentina's first defeat of the season and they now sit in seventh in Serie A.

Debrecen 2-1 Ferencvaros

Paris Saint Germain 1-1 Lyon

GROUP H

Olympiacos (face Arsenal at the Emirates on September 29)

PAOK Saloniki 2-1 Olympiacos

Olympiacos enjoyed a superb 2-1 win at PAOK Saloniki.

It was a hard-earned win for Olympiacos who had to come from a goal down and needed a last-minute winner from Leonidas Panagapoulos to secure the three points.

Olympiacos are sat in seventh in the table but have a game in hand on the majority of teams around them.

AZ Alkmaar 0-1 NEC Nijmegen

Lokeren 1-3 Standard Liege

  1. Any clubside playing against any English premier league sides is unfortunate, currently they are not doing bad at all. Al least they would all be in quarter final stages. Too hot to handle. As for the Gunners , this could be our time... Amen!
